The Bergen Symphony Orchestra, one of the pre-eminent classical orchestras in the county, begins its 7th concert season with works from Brahms, Mozart, Sibelius, and Elgar. This exciting concert, called “the Spice of Life,” will take place on Saturday, October 7 at 7:30 at the Fort Lee High School Auditorium, 3000 Lemoine Ave, Fort Lee, NJ and will feature the acclaimed violinist Yura S.J. Oh.
Woomyung Choe, the conductor and driving force behind the TBSO, said, “I enjoy bringing serious classical music, affordable to everyone, to people of all ages in the local community.” Choe continued, “My vision for the TBSO is for it to continue to grow in Bergen County and include more young people, both in the audience and as performers.”
Ms. Oh has performed extensively as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician at major venues like Alice Tully Hall, Peter Jay Sharp Theater, David Geffen Hall and Carnegie Hall. A prize-winning violinist, she studied with Itzhak Perlman and Catherine Cho at Juilliard, where she received a full scholarship.
TBSO, a 55-piece orchestra, is made up of professional musicians from the greater New York/New Jersey area. Its mission is to provide a high quality classical music experience that will not only enhance the cultural life of the community, but will also educate and encourage the next generation to love the music of the past and present. This 7th annual concert series, performing now thru May 2108, will highlight such composers as Haydn, Salieri, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Saint Saens, and Rachmaninoff.
